The aim of this training is to help the learner to: 

  • Understand the legal framework and compliance obligations around maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave.
  • Respond appropriately to leave requests and support staff through the process.
  • Conduct, effective risk assessments for pregnant employees.
  • Implement reasonable adjustments to support health, wellbeing, and a smooth transition.
  • Maintaining communication and support before, during and after leave.
  • Avoid common pitfalls and risks.
  • Takeaway practical checklist to guide future reviews.


This course has been created to help guide you, to become familiar with what you might be expected to do and how you can approach managing pregnancy at work and parental leave/pay. The contents of this course are available on a downloadable PDF for you to be able to utilise at a later date if required, which can be increased in size when downloaded if need be. Please also ensure that you follow your workplace Policies and Protocols when supporting pregnancy at work and supporting parental leave, and working in accordance with these.

End of course assessment – You will be able to show off all the information that you have learnt, there is quite a lot, so making notes would benefit you for a quick recap, don’t forget that you also have the downloadable content to utilise as a recap of what you have learnt! You will need a pass rate of 80% or more to pass and obtain your certificate, this can either be downloaded or printed at the end of the course.
