This course is designed for anyone who will be undertaking Project Management as part of their job role, this may include Managers in any profession, CEO’s Practice Managers and GP Partners within the United Kingdom. The time taken to complete this course will depend upon prior experience and knowledge, you will have a downloadable PDF at the end of the course. The aim of this training is for the learner to understand the basic principles of Project Management and to be able to carry out the tasks involved and understand why these are necessary within your workplace role. This course has been created to help guide you, to become familiar with what you might be expected to do and how you can begin to approach your Project. The contents of this course are available on a downloadable PDF for you to be able to utilise at a later date if required, which can be increased in size when downloaded if need be. Please also ensure that you follow your workplace Policies and Protocols when carrying out your projects. 

Course overview:

  • Why do we need to Project Manage?

On completion of this lesson you will understand  why it is useful to plan and to have an allocated Project Manager, explored through an every day scenario.

  • The Project Management Cycle.

You will gain an understanding and consideration of the importance of the ‘Project Management life cycle’ on completion of this lesson; we will be exploring this in more depth throughout the following lessons from ‘Initiation’ to ‘Closure.’

  • Who might the Stakeholders be?

You will be able to understand why you would need to consider who might be a Stakeholder within our Project and why by completing this lesson.

  • Initiation Phase.

On completion of this lesson you will learn why it is important to focus on how we can provide the specific details to enable the beginnings of a successful project, this lesson has a lot of information. 

  • Half-way quick quiz!

This is a small quiz to test some of the knowledge that we have already explored within this course. It has no impact on the final assessment result but might indicate if you may wish to revisit a lesson already covered, or if you feel confident to continue at this point.

  • Planning Phase.

For this lesson you will learn about the planning characteristics and milestones within the planning phase and will explore what a Gantt Chart might look like.

  • Execution Phase.

During this lesson you will be considering what details a Highlight Report can provide for the duration of a project and through the Execution Phase, this is a shorter lesson than the previous ones.

  • Closure Phase

You will explore what is required to close the project and focus on considering the learning that has taken place, to be able to transfer this knowledge within any potential future projects on completion of this lesson.

  • A summary of the Project Management Cycle

This lesson will provide a summary of the Cycle from the ‘Initiation Phase’ to  the ‘Closure Phase.’
